Description

Wine Producer: Buena Vista

Country: U.S.A.

Region: California / Southernmost tips of Sonoma and Napa County

Production Area: Carneros

Grape Type: Chardonnay

Colour: White

Vineyard: Vineyard: Fruit comes from four vineyard sites in Carneros. The Bates and Leveroni

are located just south of Highway 116, while the Kiser and Ron Kiser vineyards

are planted off of Arnold Dr. Due to the geological diversity of our various

Carneros vineyards, sites were harvested based upon optimum ripeness and

Flavoured maturity.

Soil: Rocky well–drained soil

Wine – Making Process: The grapes were whole cluster pressed, 100% barrel fermented and completed secondary (Malolactic) fermentation. The wine was aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels (18% new French oak) for 9 months before being bottled unfiltered.

Ageing: Nine months in French and Hungarian oak barrels.

Features: Our Carneros Chardonnay opens with brilliant aromas of white flowers and baked apple layered with notes of toasted almonds and clementine.
This is a complex wine that coats the palate while still displaying brisk acidity and a long, full finish.

Explore Carneros: Inspired by its pioneering 19th century roots, Buena Vista winery began in 1969 to explore a little-known corner straddling Sonoma and Napa’s southern boundaries known as Carneros. It wasn’t long until Carneros gained recognition as one of the world’s premier appellations, particularly for varietals that can thrive in cool climates, and Chardonnay in particular. Carneros is a truly exceptional winegrowing appellation. Straddling the southernmost tips of Sonoma and Napa counties. Wind and fog sweep in every afternoon from San Pablo Bay to cool the vines and extend the growing season. Subjected daily to dense foggy mornings, low rainfall, rocky well–drained soil and the constant cooling winds from the adjacent San Francisco Bay, Carneros vines enjoy an unusually long growing season. These vines produce some of the most intensely flavoured fruit in the Northern California. The star varietals of the region are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but the diverse soils and cooler climate produce intensely rich Merlot and Syrah.
