FRESCO DI MASI

Rosso Verona IGT

Fresco di Masi is a new line of handcrafted organic wines, with a low alcohol content and authentic flavour profile. These are wines made “with the simplicity of former times, but to today’s high quality standards.”

Made from grapes harvested at the coolest time of day and immediately vinified, Fresco di Masi Rosso has a strong fragrance and attractive aromas of fresh fruit on the nose: from pomegranates to blackcurrants to the typical hints of cherries that make the wine so identifiably Veronese in origin.

Classification:  Rosso Verona IGT Organic wine.

Origin: Organically cultivated vineyards located in Zuane, in the commune of Rivoli Veronese (province of Verona).

The basaltic soil has good structure and is full of schist and sand, the result of glacial erosion and consequent fluvial deposits. The vineyards are planted on a plateau, on the right bank of the Adige river, and benefit from the fresh breezes which run through the Adige Valley and protect the vines from the infections that are typical of wet environments. Organic cultivation practices include: sexual confusion of pests; grassing over the vine rows; minimum use of machinery; no pesticides, herbicides or any other dangerous chemical products; emergency drop irrigation.

Grape varieties: 70% Corvina, 30% Merlot (percentages could vary according to the vintage).

Vinification: Grapes are hand-selected early in the morning. Immediate transport to the winery, destalking, soft pressing of whole berries, natural gravity decanting at cool temperatures. Spontaneous fermentation is enhanced by indigenous wild yeasts at a temperature of 17-20°C/62-68°F. The resulting wine is not filtered and has no contact with wood barrels. No use of substances of animal origin during the entire process of production

(Vegan friendly).

Maturation: In stainless steel tanks during the coldest months of November and December.

Tasting notes: Pale cherry red in colour. Can be slightly cloudy, as is typical for non-filtered wines. Attractively young and vibrant, with the distinctive hints of cherries found in wines of Veronese origin. On the palate, intense and straightforward at the same time, delightfully fruity. Refreshing acidity and a moderate alcohol content make this red particularly easy to drink.

Food pairings: Excellent as an aperitif and with the simple foods of Mediterranean cuisine such as pasta, vegetarian dishes, salumi and cheeses.

Serve at 12-14° C (54-58° F).
