CASTELVECCHI, SOLANA IGP
Produced only in the most favorable years, Solana is born in a terroir unique in the world for microclimate and soil characteristics, located at 500-600 meters above sea level, from Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah grapes obtained from a reproduction by mass selection.
The grapes come from the historic Sangiovese and Merlot vines, which come together in perfect balance with the most recent Syrah vines, perfectly adapted to this territory.
Production: The grapes are harvested by hand at perfect ripeness, and the maceration lasts for 40 days. After a first decantation, the wine is left to refine in steel tanks for a few days, to then be transferred to first-pass oak barrels, these represent the highest wood selection of the company and are called “heart selection ". The aging in barrels lasts for 12 months. The evolution concludes with a refinement in the bottle that continues until it reaches optimal maturity.
To The Glass: Intense red color, with purple nuances. The perfume is elegant with persistent mineral, balsamic, floral and fruity notes like jam and blackberry. The bouquet is completed with spicy and cocoa notes resulting from aging in wood. In the mouth it is very broad but at the same time supported by a balanced acidity and good flavor, with strong notes of prune, vanilla and chocolate. The finish is long and intense, enhancing the soft tannins.
