BUENA VISTA, CHATEAU PROPRIETARY RED BLEND WINE, NAPA COUNTY & SONOMA COUNTY
The self-proclaimed Count, and our founder, Agoston Haraszthy, understood that great wine comes not only from great grapes, but also from great places. In the 1860’s Buena Vista covered more than 6,000 acres reaching from the southernmost part of Sonoma Valley into Napa County. Both regions offer a unique terroir – the magical combination of all the attributes required to create outstanding wines of a particular site – from the soil, to the climate, to the site’s exposure to the sun, to the vine itself. With the release of the Chateau Buena Vista wines, we celebrate and honour Buena Vista’s indelible presence and significant contributions to the California wine world. These wines are a culmination of the storied history of Buena Vista … a story like no other.
Winemaker’s Notes: The debut of our Proprietary Red Wine upholds the legacy of our illustrious founder with a blend of grapes from both Napa and Sonoma. The Cabernet Sauvignon is harvested from valley floor vineyards within Napa Valley while the Merlot grapes are from the northern reaches of Sonoma.
Tasting Notes: A bouquet of dark fruit aromas, black currants and cinnamon greet the nose. Flavours of black cherry, plum and baking spice are complemented by a kiss of oak. This is a rich and structured wine with fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity and a savoury finish.
