CHÂTEAU TROUPIAN
HAUT-MEDOC
The Haut-Médoc enjoys an ancient reputation, perhaps better established than that of the Médoc proper. Château Troupian is a part of the Lestage Simon estate, situated in the commune of Saint- Seurin-de-Cadourne. The vineyard, rooted in clay-limestone soil, is dominated by the Merlot grape, producing a very feminine, slightly wooded wine. The Haut-Médoc enjoys an ancient reputation, perhaps better established than that of the Médoc proper. This stems from its location – closer to Bordeaux, its viticultural potential was recognised from the eighteenth century onwards, a quality its landholders and entrepreneurs were quick to harness. This region extends across a stretch of around 60 kilometres in the left bank of the Garonne and the Gironde rivers, to the north of Bordeaux. The wines of the Haut-Médoc AOC are characterised by their vivacity and their brilliance. Harmonious and well-balanced, generous but not to excess, with time they develop a nose of remarkable excellence.
Their provenance also lends these wines a rich colouring and a full body. Nonetheless, they retain their distinctive Médoc characteristics, marking them out as wines of distinction, appreciated as such throughout the world
